Intangible Cultural Heritage Bridges China-Ghana FriendshipLiu Shuang and Team Attend International Cultural Exchange Forum at the Embassy of Ghana in China

From 14:00 to 16:00 on June 30, the forum themed "Intangible Cultural Heritage Bridges China-Ghana Friendship – International Exchange Forum on China’s Dual National Intangible Cultural Heritages and Ghanaian Exotic Cultures" was successfully held at the Embassy of the Republic of Ghana in China.

Liu Shuang, Deputy Secretary-General of the UNESCO World Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection and Development Center, World Ambassador for Global Intangible Cultural Heritage Communication, Expert of China Digital Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Group, Director Madam of Beijing Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritance and Communication Committee, and Station Master of Ambassador Lounge Tongzhou Service Station in Beijing, attended the forum as a guest together with David Wilson, Rotating Chairman of the Committee, and Lin Xiaohong, Executive Committee Member of the Committee.

The Ambassador of Ghana to China, embassy officials, representatives from Beijing Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritance and Communication Committee and other sectors gathered at the venue. They held in-depth discussions on mutual appreciation of Chinese and Ghanaian intangible cultural heritages, exchanges on traditional Chinese medicine wellness, youth diplomacy and in-depth cooperation in cultural tourism industries, and drew up long-term cultural cooperation plans between the two countries.

Intangible cultural heritage serves as a vital bond for civilizational communication. China and Ghana have maintained long-standing friendly exchanges and yielded fruitful cooperation outcomes in culture, healthcare, education and youth exchanges.

Liu Shuang has long dedicated herself to international communication of intangible cultural heritage and youth foreign cultural education. Relying on platforms including relevant UNESCO centers, Beijing Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritance and Communication Committee and Ambassador Lounge Tongzhou Service Station, she has created signature brand events such as "Little Diplomats Visit Embassies" and "International Cultural Life Exchange Season".

The camps under her leadership showcase and promote two millennia-old national intangible cultural heritages — Song Dynasty Tea Whisking and Traditional Chinese Medicine all year round. Equipped with a complete system for performances, cultural experience, international reception and all-media publicity, the camps continuously facilitate Chinese tea and traditional Chinese medicine culture to go global.

To enhance people-to-people bonds between China and Ghana, build a public-welfare, regular and long-term co-construction platform, boost the overseas development of Song Dynasty tea culture and TCM intangible heritage, and introduce distinctive local Ghanaian culture to China, four core cooperation plans were finalized at the forum:

1.Confirm the schedule and overall plan for the first Ghana National Cultural Festival through consultation;

2.Establish two featured zones at the demonstration camps: a Ghanaian Culture Exhibition Zone and a TCM Intangible Heritage Wellness Experience Zone;

3.Jointly release official cooperative reports to build a benchmark case for China-Ghana exchanges on intangible cultural heritage and wellness;

4.Sign a long-term annual strategic cooperation framework to set up a regular fixed communication and exchange mechanism.

This forum has built a multi-field cooperation bridge covering intangible cultural heritage, wellness, youth programs and cultural tourism between China and Ghana, consolidated the foundation for two-way cultural integration of the two nations, and boosted people-to-people cultural exchanges between China and Africa to enter a new stage of regularized and high-quality development.
